An unique trip to one of the most mystical regions of France
In the twelfth century, a new religious movement develops, defended by the Cathars or Albigensians, in the south of France. They are Christians who do not recognize the authority of the pope. They condemn the Roman Church and its hierarchy on the pretext that it does not respect the ideal of life and poverty of Christ. In 1208, the pope decided to start the first organized crusade on Christian soil against heretics and those who support them. It will be the crusade against the Albigensians that will last until their disappearance in 1255.
The Cathar´s religion is the expression of pure souls who sought a form of life bringing them closer to God and the ideal of faith, in opposition to the Roman Church corrupted by power and material wealth.
Their vision of the world, their faith in God, their ideals of justice and equality, the purity of their hearts and the simplicity of their daily practices have continued to inspire truth seekers for centuries.
Throughout the inquisition, the Cathars live clandestinely, refugees in fortified places still tinged with mysteries: Montségur, Quéribus, Puivert …
Nearly eight centuries after the events, the Catholic Church of Ariège (south-west of France) apologized in October 2016, for the massacre of the Cathars, one of the worst atrocities of the Inquisition.
From the treasure of Rennes-le-Château to the presence of the Holy Grail in Montségur, this Tour crosses the south of France, in old Occitania, among the Cathar castles to unravel the secrets of these men and women and be amazed by the strength of their commitment and love for God.
